Liverpool Victoria home insurance provider releases roads research

 

A new report from an affiliate of Liverpool Victoria home insurance has revealed the high numbers of overseas drivers on UK roads.

The study, from Liverpool Victoria general insurance, shows that the number of resident drivers from other EU states has grown by 270,000 since 2002.

Foreign drivers in Britain have also doubled in number since 2001, growing to 804,000 last year.

What's more, almost 90 per cent of this growth has occurred in the years since 2004 - when ten member states were added to the union.

The highest proportion of the overseas drivers were found to come from the Republic of Ireland, which made up 25 per cent of the total.

Managing director of Liverpool Victoria general insurance, John O'Roarke, said: "There has been a steep rise in drivers from other European countries over the past few years."

As part of its products range, Liverpool Victoria also offers house contents insurance for students.
